Futaba Yoshioka is a teenage girl who has entered high school with hopes of a fresh start. She had made a promise with a boy named Kou Mabuchi when they were in middle school, but he moved away before they could fulfill it. Futaba believes that Kou’s departure was her fault, and she is determined to make amends. When she meets a popular boy named Kikuchi in high school, she pretends to be interested in him to fit in with her classmates. However, she soon discovers that Kikuchi is not as kind as he seems.

In Blue Spring Ride season 1 episode 3, titled E 3, Futaba becomes increasingly aware of Kou’s presence in her life. Although she tries to convince herself that she has moved on from him, she cannot help but feel drawn to him. She realizes that she still has feelings for him and wants to know if he feels the same way.

Meanwhile, Kou is struggling with his own feelings. He has returned to his hometown after several years of living away, and he is attempting to adjust to his new life. He is still haunted by his past, and he is unsure if he wants to open up to Futaba.

The episode follows Futaba as she tries to find a way to reach out to Kou. She knows that he is dealing with his own issues, but she is determined to help him. She talks to her friends about him and tries to get information about his life. She becomes worried when she hears rumors about Kou being involved with another girl.

Kou, on the other hand, is distant and aloof. He seems to be trying to push Futaba away, but she refuses to give up on him. She reaches out to him in small ways, trying to show him that she cares about him and wants to be there for him.

As the episode progresses, the tension between Futaba and Kou builds. They are both struggling with their feelings for each other, but they are too afraid to admit it. Futaba finally confronts Kou about his behavior and asks him why he is pushing her away.

Kou finally opens up to Futaba about his past and the reason he moved away. He reveals that he has been struggling with feelings of guilt and loneliness since he left. He tells her that he is afraid to get close to anyone, but he cannot help how he feels about her.

The episode ends with Futaba and Kou having a heart-to-heart conversation. They both acknowledge their feelings for each other and make a promise to stay in touch. They both know that they have a long way to go, but they are willing to work through their issues together.
