The show Blue Mountain State follows the lives of the university's football team, the Mountain Goats, as well as their wild and crazy antics off the field. In season 1 episode 9, titled Midterms, the team faces the stress of midterm exams and the repercussions of their previous actions catch up with them.
Thad, the team captain, is struggling to balance his football responsibilities with his academics. He is failing his classes and is in danger of not being able to play in the upcoming game against Blackwell. Thad is desperate to pass his midterms, and seeks the help of the team's academic advisor, Denise, who suggests he try a tutor.
Meanwhile, Alex, the quarterback, is feeling the pressure from his coach to perform well on the field. He is also dealing with the fallout from a prank he pulled on one of the cheerleaders, Mary Jo. Alex must find a way to make it up to her and get back in the coach's good graces.
Elsewhere, Sammy, the team mascot, is struggling to keep up with the demands of being both the mascot and a student. He is failing his midterms and is in danger of losing his scholarship. Sammy decides to seek out a tutor, but ends up falling for her instead.
As the midterms approach, tensions run high among the team. The pressure to pass their exams while also performing well on the field proves to be too much for some. Thad turns to performance-enhancing drugs to help him study, while Alex goes out on a wild night to clear his head.
When the day of the midterms arrives, the team is in various states - some highly prepared and ready to succeed, while others are panicking and completely unprepared. As the day progresses, the team faces a number of challenges - from technical difficulties to cheating accusations.
In the end, the midterms prove to be a turning point for the team. Some are able to pull themselves together and succeed, while others are left to face the consequences of their poor decisions. As the episode concludes, the team must come together and find a way to overcome their challenges if they want to come out on top - both academically and on the field.
