In Blue Mountain State season 1 episode 7, titled "The Legend of the Golden Arm," the BMS football team is facing off against a rival school, the geeks of Georgia Tech. However, the big game takes a backseat when Thad Castle becomes obsessed with a bizarre and seemingly impossible urban legend.
According to legend, a former BMS quarterback known as "The Golden Arm" had a prosthetic gold arm that was so powerful, he could throw a football over the school's clock tower. Despite being considered a ridiculous myth by most, Thad becomes convinced that the legend is real, and sets out to prove it.
Meanwhile, Alex Moran is struggling with his role as the team's backup quarterback. He feels overshadowed by his over-confident teammate, Radon Randell, who is peaking in popularity after being featured in a music video. Alex struggles to find his own identity, and decides to take a risk by trying to impress a girl on campus.
As Thad and his friends become more obsessed with the legend of the Golden Arm, they begin to dig deeper into its origins. They discover that a former BMS quarterback named Ray Ray McElrathbey had a gold arm cast made after breaking his real arm. Thad and his friends decide to track down Ray Ray, hoping he can prove the legend is true.
Meanwhile, Alex decides to make a bold move to impress the girl he likes. He decides to climb to the top of the school's clock tower and throw a football over it, just like the legendary Golden Arm. However, when Alex's plan goes horribly wrong, he finds himself in a dangerous situation and must rely on his teammates to save him.
As the game against Georgia Tech approaches, Thad and his friends stumble upon a clue that could prove the legend of the Golden Arm is true. But as they race to uncover the truth, they risk ruining their chances of winning the big game.
In the end, the legend of the Golden Arm is put to rest, and the BMS football team emerges victorious in their game against Georgia Tech. Alex learns to embrace his role as a backup quarterback, while Thad realizes that sometimes it's okay to let go of impossible dreams.
