In the thirteenth episode of Blue Gender season 1, titled 'Heresy,' the plot picks up where the twelfth episode left off and follows Yuji Kaido and Marlene Angel as they continue their journey to save humanity from the blue, a seemingly unstoppable force of giant bugs that has taken over Earth.
As they move deeper into the heart of the enemy territory, they come across the remains of a city that was once inhabited by humans. Here they encounter a group of survivors who have managed to evade the blue for a long time by hiding underground. This underground dwelling is a stark contrast to the barren and devastated landscape above, giving the impression that there is still hope for humanity after all.
The underground group immediately welcomes Yuji and Marlene and takes them in, sharing with them a canned food that they have been hoarding for a long time. The group is motivated by the belief that Yuji is the key to saving humanity from the blue, as he has a unique ability to communicate with them. The survivors ask Yuji to take them with him as he moves forward to the blue's headquarters, but Marlene reminds them of the dire situation above ground, causing the group to pause and consider their options.
As Yuji and Marlene discuss the best way forward, they come to learn about the true intentions of Dr. Nomo, a scientist who was previously working on a project called "Project Blue," which was supposed to control the blue. It is revealed that Dr. Nomo's true intention was to use the blue to eliminate most of humanity, as he believed that the planet was overpopulated and that drastic measures needed to be taken to save it.
In light of this revelation, Yuji and Marlene realize that they can no longer trust Dr. Nomo, and that his actions have put humanity in great danger. The survival of humanity rests squarely on their shoulders now, and they must do all they can to save it.
The episode ends on a cliffhanger as Yuji and Marlene head towards the blue's headquarters, where they will face their greatest challenge yet. 'Heresy' raises important questions about the ethics of scientific research and the responsibility that comes with power, providing an interesting commentary on the human condition. The themes of hope, loyalty, and trust are also explored throughout the episode, making for a satisfying viewing experience. Fans of science fiction and post-apocalyptic stories are sure to enjoy this episode, along with the Blue Gender series as a whole.
