Now A Certain Man Was Sick... is the eighth episode of the first season of the popular anime series, Blue Exorcist. This episode continues to follow Rin Okumura, who is struggling to become a successful exorcist while also dealing with his true identity as the son of Satan.
The episode opens with Rin receiving a phone call from his friend and fellow exorcist, Ryuji Suguro. Suguro informs Rin that his father is dying and would like to speak with Rin before he passes away. Rin immediately agrees to visit Suguro's father, who is an art collector and a friend of Rin's late father.
Upon arriving, Rin is informed that Suguro's father has been possessed by a demon and that it is slowly killing him. The demon had possessed one of his art pieces, and in turn, it possessed him. Rin and Suguro, who are both skilled exorcists, immediately begin trying to exorcise the demon from Suguro's father.
Meanwhile, Yukio Okumura, Rin's twin brother, is investigating the history of the art piece. He discovers that the art piece originally came from a family that had been collecting demonic objects for generations. The family had been cursed, and anyone who came into contact with the objects would eventually be possessed by a demon.
Back at Suguro's father's house, the demon continues to resist exorcism. Rin and Suguro soon realize that the demon has been weakened due to the loss of its host body, and they try to take advantage of its weakened state. After a long and grueling battle, Rin and Suguro finally manage to exorcise the demon, saving Suguro's father's life.
In the aftermath of the battle, Rin and Suguro talk about their fathers' expectations of them. They both feel the pressure to live up to their fathers' legacy, especially since they are both exorcists. Rin and Suguro's relationship also deepens after the ordeal, as they realize they have more in common than they initially thought.
The episode ends with Rin realizing that he has grown stronger as an exorcist and that he has the potential to become as powerful as his late father. He also realizes that his destiny might be different from what he initially thought, and that he must embrace his true identity if he wants to become a successful exorcist.
Now A Certain Man Was Sick... is a gripping episode that showcases the intense nature of exorcism. It also explores the theme of legacy and the pressure that comes with it. Rin's personal growth is also highlighted, as he begins to come to terms with his true identity. Overall, this episode is a great addition to the show's first season and leaves viewers eager for the next installment.
