Ep 2. After the Phantom Ghost Wagon

After the Phantom Ghost Wagon is the second episode of the anime series Blood Blockade Battlefront. The episode begins at a restaurant where Leonardo watches Zapp fighting with some people. Zapp is being targeted by a group of men for the loss of their treasure. Leon, being the peacemaker, intervenes only to get himself involved in a fight as well. The fight eventually leads them to the "sewer king", Gilbert F. Altstein’s headquarters who is the boss of that part of the town. Gilbert asks Leon and Zapp to retrieve his stolen item and in return, he will return the stolen item belonging to Zapp's attackers.

The next scene shows the main character Leo's sister Michella who is visiting a therapist. Michella is seen confined to a wheelchair, and her therapist has provided her with a brain implant that allows her to communicate with Leo without communication devices. While Leo is out helping Zapp, Michella is busy exploring the city using this implant, and she senses something unusual about the city streets.

Leon and Zapp arrive at the location of the stolen item to find that the item is actually a car from another dimension. The car has unusual abilities like moving through solid objects, changing shape and being able to control others’ bodies using sound waves. They see that the car is being possessed by a ghost who calls himself "Phantom Fangs". After a brief confrontation, the Phantom Fangs disappears into the car, and the car takes off on its own. Leon and Zapp chase after the car in their pursuit to retrieve the object.

Leon uses his special eyes to see if there is anything beyond the physical object. With these eyes, he is able to see a ghost inside the car. The ghost turns out to be a young girl named Tracy who was confined in the car since childhood by a scientist who wanted to use her powers for his own needs. Tracy had no control over the car and it was only because of the Phantom Fangs that she was able to escape.

Using Leon's eyes and sound waves from Zapp's special weapon, they try to communicate with Tracy in an attempt to rescue her. They discovered that Tracy is unable to communicate in the physical form, and the Phantom Fangs was the only way she could express herself. After a little brainstorming, they realized that they can communicate with Tracy by touching her. So Leon touches Tracy, and he is teleported into another dimension where he can communicate with her.

Through their conversation, Leon discovers that Tracy has the power to create illusions with her voice. The illusions she creates are actually a manifestation of her inner desires and they are very real. With the help of Phantom Fangs, who is actually Tracy’s imaginary friend, Leon is able to retrieve her from the car and bring her to the outside world.

The episode ends with Leon returning back to the original world with Tracy while the rest of the group rejoices. It is discovered that the car was a "Phantom Ghost Wagon" and was being used by someone for their own purpose. Leon is praised by Gilbert for his bravery and is given the responsibility to clean up the mess that had been created. Meanwhile, Michella seems to be feeling uneasy and suspicious of the city’s atmosphere after exploring it using her brain implant.

After the Phantom Ghost Wagon is an excellent follow-up to the first episode and is sure to capture the audience's attention. The episode showcases the unique abilities of the main characters and how they work together as a team to solve their problems. The animation is also top-notch, with every frame being rich in detail and vibrant colors. Blood Blockade Battlefront is quickly becoming a fan-favorite among anime enthusiasts and rightfully so!
