In Blindspot season 4, the first episode is titled "Hella Duplicitous." As the episode begins, Jane and Weller are still reeling from the events of the previous season, specifically the death of a major character. The team is back at the FBI, but they are all struggling with their personal demons.
The episode starts off with a bang, as we see a group of terrorists attacking a bank in New York City. It quickly becomes clear that the terrorists are after one particular safety deposit box. When the FBI arrives on the scene, they find a strange puzzle inside the box that only Jane can solve.
As Jane works to decipher the puzzle, the team realizes that they are dealing with a dangerous new threat. The puzzle leads them to a woman named Madeline Burke, who is running a large criminal organization. Madeline is a former CIA agent who has gone rogue and is now working against the US government.
Madeline is played brilliantly by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, who brings a sense of quiet menace to the character. The team has to go undercover to infiltrate Madeline's organization, but they quickly realize that they may be in over their heads. Madeline is extremely clever and has an almost supernatural ability to anticipate their moves.
Throughout the episode, we see flashbacks to Jane's time with the CIA, where she first encountered Madeline. These flashbacks provide some additional context for the current situation, and they also shed some light on Jane's inner struggles.
As the team continues to investigate Madeline's organization, they discover that there are several other sleeper cells operating in the US. Madeline is planning a major terrorist attack, and the team has to stop her before she can carry out her plans.
One of the most interesting aspects of "Hella Duplicitous" is the way that it explores the theme of trust. The team is faced with several situations where they have to decide whether or not to trust each other. This is especially true for Jane and Weller, who are still trying to navigate their complicated relationship.
The episode is filled with intense action sequences, but it also takes time to explore the emotional depth of the characters. We see some great performances from the entire cast, especially Jaimie Alexander, who plays Jane with a vulnerability that is both powerful and heartbreaking.
Overall, "Hella Duplicitous" is a great start to the fourth season of Blindspot. It sets up a thrilling new storyline, and it also gives us some great character development. Fans of the show will be excited to see where the story goes from here.
