Despite the danger, Manji accepts the challenge and they engage in a brutal and intense battle that showcases their incredible swordsmanship skills. The fight ends with both men wounded and Manji realizing that he is not the only immortal swordsman in the world.
As Rin tends to Manji's wounds, Kuroi appears and reveals that he has been hired by a powerful samurai lord to capture Rin and bring her back to him. Kuroi offers to let Manji go if he hands over Rin, but Manji refuses and decides to protect Rin at all costs. The two immortals engage in another battle, this time with Rin as the prize.
