In episode 21 of season 2 of the hit comedy show Black-ish, titled "The Johnson Show," the Johnson family decides to create their own reality show. The episode follows the family as they try to come up with ideas for their show, and as they encounter some unexpected challenges along the way.
The episode begins with Dre (Anthony Anderson) telling his family that they should make their own reality show. He thinks it will be a great way to showcase their unique family dynamic and bring attention to some of the issues they care about. His wife, Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross), is initially skeptical, but eventually agrees to give it a try.
The family starts brainstorming ideas for their show, and they quickly realize they have very different visions for what it should be. Junior (Marcus Scribner) wants to make a show about him and his girlfriend, Zoey (Yara Shahidi), while Jack (Miles Brown) and Diane (Marsi Martin) want to make a show about their pets. Dre and Rainbow want to focus on more serious issues, like police brutality and racism.
As they try to come up with a compromise, they encounter some unexpected hurdles. Dre's boss at work doesn't want him to use the company's facilities for filming, and the family realizes they don't have the skills or equipment to make a professional-looking show.
Despite these setbacks, the family is determined to make their show a success. They decide to film it themselves using their phones and a video editing app, and they come up with a plan to sneak into Dre's workplace after hours to film a segment there.
As they start filming, the family quickly learns that making a reality show is harder than they thought. Junior and Zoey's segment is awkward and boring, and Jack and Diane's segment is a disaster when one of their hamsters escapes. Dre and Rainbow's segment, which aims to educate viewers about racism, is met with resistance from some of their friends who don't want to talk about such a serious issue.
Despite all of these challenges, the family persists. They learn to work together and support each other, and they eventually come up with a final product that they're all proud of.
"The Johnson Show" is a funny and heartwarming episode that highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the Johnson family. It showcases their unique personalities and quirks, and it provides a window into the issues that matter to them. Overall, it's a great addition to the Black-ish canon, and it's sure to be a hit with fans of the show.
