In the sixteenth episode of the second season of Black-ish, entitled "Hope," Dre and Bow face an ethical dilemma when their pediatrician suggests they put their son on medication for ADHD. After much deliberation, Dre and Bow decide to try the medication and are pleased with the results. However, things take a turn when Dre's coworkers express their opinions on medicating children and he begins to question whether or not they made the right decision.
Meanwhile, Junior struggles with a school project and turns to his siblings for help. They all pitch in and work together to create an impressive video presentation.
As always, the episode features a healthy dose of comedy and family hijinks, but also tackles the serious issue of medicating children for ADHD. It highlights the difficulties parents face in making decisions for their children's health and the pressure they feel from others to make the "right" choice.
Guest stars in the episode include Nicole Sullivan as Dre's coworker Janine and Katherine Tokarz as Junior's teacher, Ms. Davis.
Overall, "Hope" is a poignant and thought-provoking episode of Black-ish that explores important issues facing parents today while still maintaining the show's signature wit and humor.
