Ryan Henry is back with another episode of Black Ink Crew Chicago, and this time, it's all about fatherhood. In episode 3 of season 6, titled "World's Best Dad," we get a glimpse into the lives of the male members of the crew, and their relationships with their children.
The episode starts with Ryan visiting his son Mason's school for a parent-teacher conference. We see Ryan trying to be involved in his son's life despite his busy schedule, and he seems really committed to being the best dad he can be. However, things take an unexpected turn when the teacher tells Ryan that Mason's behavior in class has been less than stellar.
Meanwhile, Van is dealing with some personal drama of his own. He finds out that his 18-year-old daughter Briana is pregnant, and he's not sure how to react. Van has always been very protective of his daughter, and the news of her pregnancy sends him into a bit of a panic. We see him struggling to come to terms with the fact that he's going to be a grandpa, and he's not quite ready for it.
Over at 9MAG, Don is also dealing with some fatherhood issues. His daughter, Ashely, is turning 18 and Don wants to throw her a huge birthday party. However, Ashely doesn't seem all that interested in having a big party, and Don is struggling to figure out how to connect with his daughter as she enters adulthood.
Meanwhile, Charmaine is also exploring her relationship with motherhood. She's planning a party to celebrate the fact that she's stopped breastfeeding her son, but things quickly go awry when she realizes that the venue she booked is much smaller than she thought. We see Charmaine struggling to keep her cool as things spiral out of control, and it's clear that motherhood isn't as easy as she thought it would be.
As the episode progresses, we see each member of the crew grappling with their own unique fatherhood issues. Some, like Ryan, are trying to be more present in their children's lives. Others, like Van, are struggling to accept the fact that their children are growing up and starting families of their own. And still others, like Don and Charmaine, are trying to figure out how to connect with their children as they become adults.
Overall, "World's Best Dad" is a poignant look at fatherhood and the many challenges and joys that come with it. Whether you're a father yourself or just someone who appreciates a good family dynamic, this episode is sure to tug at your heartstrings and leave you feeling grateful for the dads in your life.
