Ep 0. 'Pilot' or 'Trouble on Puppet Street'
Black Dynamite is an American comedy TV series that debuted on Adult Swim in 2012. The show is a continuation of the 2009 feature film Black Dynamite. The series follows Black Dynamite who is an 80's CIA agent that goes on missions to stop various organizations and people who threaten the African American community.
The first episode, "Pilot" or "Trouble on Puppet Street," begins with some street performers putting on a puppet show about drugs and setting a bad example for the community. The show ends with the puppet drug dealer being shot by the puppet police, which the audience seems to enjoy. The scene then shifts to Black Dynamite, who is driving his car and narrating his thoughts about the state of affairs in the black community.
Soon after, Black Dynamite is contacted by his ex-girlfriend and fellow CIA agent, Iris, who tells him that his brother, Jimmy, has been killed. Black Dynamite goes to Jimmy's funeral and meets with his estranged father, who tells him that he needs to find out who killed Jimmy and bring them to justice. Black Dynamite starts investigating and discovers that his brother was killed by a secret society trying to brainwash the youth into using drugs.
The rest of the episode follows Black Dynamite as he tracks down the secret society and uncovers a plot to make the entire youth population addicted to drugs. Along the way, he teams up with a group of angry black men who call themselves the "Unchained Monkeys" and a young boy named Cream Corn, who was almost turned into a drug addict himself.
The episode is filled with over-the-top action scenes, ridiculous humor, and lots of references to 70s blaxploitation films. It also features exaggerated stereotypes of African American culture, which many critics have argued is both offensive and hilarious.
Overall, the first episode of Black Dynamite is a wild and riotous introduction to the series. It sets up the central plot of the show while also indulging in absurd humor and outrageous action sequences. Fans of blaxploitation films and over-the-top comedy will surely enjoy Black Dynamite.
