Ep 5. Hello Sun

Bernard, Manny, and Fran are back for another hilarious episode of Black Books in season 2 episode 5 entitled “Hello Sun.” In this episode, Bernard and Manny's trip to the beach is spoiled by the unexpected return of Fran's ex-boyfriend.

They attempt to retrace their steps but are unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Fran is dealing with the unexpected arrival of Robin who has shown up at the bookshop demanding to be let in. Fran finally relents and lets him in, and he proceeds to make a scene, causing the other customers to leave.

As the day progresses, Bernard and Manny find themselves stranded in the arcade with no way to get home. They are forced to eat vending machine food and try their luck at various arcade games in order to win prizes, which they hope to sell for bus fare. Meanwhile, Fran is trying to deal with Robin, who is behaving erratically and seems to be losing his grip on reality.

As night falls, Bernard and Manny are still stranded in the arcade. They attempt to sneak out but are caught by the owner, who refuses to let them go until they have paid their debts. In desperation, they decide to break into a vending machine in order to steal the money they need to pay their debt and get home.

Meanwhile, Fran has finally had enough of Robin's behavior and tries to kick him out of the bookshop. To her surprise, Robin reveals that he has booked them a holiday in Australia and begs her to come with him. Despite her initial reluctance, Fran eventually agrees to go with Robin and embarks on a new adventure.
