As Bing and his friends Sula and Pando play outside, they spot some birds soaring high up in the sky. Sula decides that they should try and fly a kite and the three of them begin to gather materials to make their kite. They search for items that they think will be light enough to fly, like feathers and leaves, and attempt to piece together their kite with sticks and string.
While they are constructing their kite, Sula becomes very particular about how it should look and is worried that it won't be perfect. Bing and Pando try to reassure her that it doesn't need to be perfect to fly, but Sula insists that it won't fly at all unless it's just right. Her worrying ends up slowing down the kite-making process and they start to run out of time before it's time for them to go back inside.
Finally, they finish their kite and prepare to fly it. Bing and Pando run with the kite, but it doesn't fly like they hoped it would. Sula is devastated, but Bing reminds her that they had fun making it, and that's what really matters. They decide to try again and they make some adjustments to the kite, this time successfully getting it to fly.
Pando is thrilled, but Sula seems to be focused more on how the kite looks instead of just the fact that it's flying. Bing and Pando try to get her to stop worrying about the appearance of the kite and just enjoy it, but Sula still seems a little distracted.
As they fly the kite, they notice that the birds they saw earlier have returned. The three of them watch the birds fly around and Bing asks Sula if she'll ever be able to fly like a bird. Sula responds that she's not sure, but sometimes when she imagines she's a bird, it feels like she's flying.
The episode ends with them flying their kite together as the sun sets, holding onto the string and laughing as it dances through the air.
