This punishment is meant to scare the youth straight and make them rethink their life choices. In season 5, episode 6, the show travels to Charlotte County, FL, where they follow several teenagers as they are put through this experience.

The episode begins with an introduction to the three teenagers who will be participating in the program. First up is Jourdon, a 17-year-old girl who has been caught skipping school and doing drugs. Her mother is at her wit's end and hopes that this experience will scare her straight. Next is Zach, a 16-year-old boy who has been getting into fights and has a bad attitude. His father hopes that being sent to jail will make him see the error of his ways. Lastly, we meet Justin, a 17-year-old boy who has been getting involved with the wrong crowd and repeatedly getting into trouble with the law.

The teenagers are taken to Charlotte County Jail, where they are greeted by some of the meanest inmates in the facility. The first stop on their tour is the booking area, where they are each photographed, fingerprinted, and given a bright orange jumpsuit to wear. The inmates who are supervising them are rough with them from the start, shouting orders and insults to keep them in line.

Next, the teenagers are taken to the general population area of the jail, where they are introduced to some of the other inmates. These inmates are some of the most dangerous and disruptive in the facility, and they waste no time in intimidating the teenagers. They shout at them, swear at them, and even try to fight them, all in an effort to scare them straight.

The next stop on the tour is the solitary confinement area. Here, the teenagers are shown the small, dark cells where inmates are kept for days at a time with no human interaction. They are warned that this is where they will end up if they don't straighten out their lives. The teenagers are visibly shaken by this experience and start to realize the severity of their situation.

After the tour of the jail is over, the teenagers are taken to a room where they are shown a video about the consequences of getting involved in drugs and crime. The video is graphic and shows real-life examples of what can happen when someone gets caught up in a life of crime. The teenagers are visibly affected by the video, and some of them even start to cry.

The final part of the program is a one-on-one session with an inmate who has been through the system and turned their life around. The inmate talks to the teenagers about how they ended up in jail and how they were able to turn their life around. They offer advice and guidance to the teenagers, hoping that they will take their words to heart and change their ways.
