Ep 5. Cheap, Cheap!

Samantha and Darrin find themselves in a difficult financial situation when Darrin's company goes bankrupt. Samantha takes it upon herself to cut costs, but when she starts replacing expensive items with cheaper alternatives, chaos ensues. First, a guest at a dinner party becomes violently ill after eating a budget meal made with subpar ingredients. Then, after Samantha replaces their prized painting with a cheap replica, the original suddenly goes missing. As if that weren't enough, she also replaces Darrin's beloved antique desk with a shoddy knockoff, only to discover that the original had a hidden compartment filled with valuable coins. To make matters worse, Samantha's frugality causes tension in her relationship with Darrin, who feels embarrassed by their newfound thriftiness. Meanwhile, Endora gets involved, using her magic to make fun of Samantha's penny-pinching ways and turning Darrin into a chicken for good measure. As the episode comes to a close, Samantha realizes that saving money isn't worth sacrificing their happiness and decides to splurge on a romantic trip for two.
