In Bewitched season 2 episode 7, titled "Trick or Treat", Samantha and Darrin's plans for a peaceful Halloween are disrupted when their mischievous neighbor Gladys Kravitz insists on hosting a party and inviting the entire neighborhood.
Samantha, who is a witch, is hesitant about attending the party as she knows that Gladys is extremely suspicious of her and her magical abilities. However, Darrin convinces her to go, reasoning that it is important for them to make an effort to fit in and be social with their neighbors.
At the party, Samantha and Darrin are startled to find that Gladys has decorated her house to look exactly like Samantha's home. Even more concerning, Gladys has dressed up as Samantha and is impersonating her in front of the guests.
As the night progresses, strange occurrences start happening around the party. Objects start moving on their own, and the guests become convinced that Samantha is behind the supernatural events. Gladys, who is jealous of Samantha's perfect life, sees an opportunity to discredit her and turns the entire neighborhood against her.
Meanwhile, Samantha's mischievous relatives, Endora and Uncle Arthur, also get in on the Halloween fun by transforming themselves into the spookiest creatures they can think of. Uncle Arthur, in particular, causes chaos when he turns himself into a bat and takes it upon himself to scare the guests at Gladys' party.
As Samantha and Darrin try to restore order, they are confronted by a group of angry neighbors who demand that Samantha use her magic to undo the damage. Despite the hostility, Samantha manages to find a way to diffuse the situation and restore peace in the neighborhood.
"Trick or Treat" is a classic example of Bewitched's unique blend of humor, magic, and heart. The episode highlights the challenges of living in a small community and the importance of staying true to oneself, even in the face of adversity. It is a must-watch for fans of both Halloween and classic sitcoms.
