Buddy, as usual, is skeptical of Ed's claims but reluctantly decides to help him search for the sandwich to prove that luck has nothing to do with it. With their mission clear, the two friends set off on a quest to track down the missing delicacy.

Their search takes them to various locations around Swellville. Along the way, Ed's luck continues to astound Buddy, causing comical situations and hilarious misunderstandings. From narrowly avoiding obstacles to finding valuable clues, Ed's fortune seems to know no bounds, while Buddy's skepticism only grows.

The raccoons playfully tease Ed, calling his luck nothing more than a fairy tale and challenging him to prove its existence. The wager involves Ed attempting to catch a branch that the raccoons deliberately release high in the air. If Ed successfully catches it, the raccoons promise to admit his luck is real, but if he fails, Ed will owe them a favor. With an air of determination, Ed stands beneath the branch, fully relying on his fortune. As the branch falls, it surprisingly lands directly in Ed's paws, leaving the raccoons mystified and Buddy astounded.

Their adventure continues, leading them to an old bookstore where they suspect the missing sandwich may be hiding. The store's eccentric owner, Mr. Snipes, welcomes them and reveals his collection of rare books, one of which holds a vital clue to the sandwich's whereabouts. Ed's good luck leads him to discover the hidden book, but Buddy remains convinced that their progress is a result of logical deduction rather than Ed's charm.

Finally, Ed and Buddy find themselves in an old shed at the edge of town. The shed is dark and eerie, causing Buddy's caution to reach its peak. As they search for the sandwich, their flashlight flickers, leaving them in darkness. Just as Buddy starts to panic, Ed stops him and calmly rubs his charm, believing it will bring them safety. Suddenly, a ray of light shines through a crack in the shed, guiding them to the long-lost chowder sandwich.

With the sandwich found and their mission accomplished, Ed's luck is gloriously confirmed once again. As they return to the town square to claim their reward, Buddy seems resigned to accepting Ed's incredible fortune, realizing that some things are simply beyond rational explanation.
