As winter approaches in Nome, Alaska, the water temperatures begin to drop and seasonal storms churn up the Bering Sea. In season 10 episode 5 of Bering Sea Gold, titled "Storm Surge," the gold mining crews face harsh conditions and increased danger as they battle against the elements to find the precious metal.
Emily Riedel and her crew on The Eroica are struggling with a broken down sub-dredge that has brought their operation to a standstill. With only two weeks left in the season, they are under immense pressure to get back in the water and find gold. However, with a massive storm looming on the horizon, they know that time is running out.
Meanwhile, Ken Kerr and his crew on The Reaper are having their best season yet, but the weather threatens to ruin their chances at a big payout. As waves crash against their boat and strong winds threaten to throw them off course, they must decide whether they should ride out the storm or risk their lives to continue mining.
Over on The Kellys' new dredge, Kris Kelly and his team are feeling the full force of the storm as they battle against high seas and extremely rough conditions. With the water churned up and visibility severely reduced, they find it difficult to locate prime mining spots and must rely on their intuition to guide them through the treacherous waters.
Additionally, newcomer Cody Moen and his team on The Lazy Gator are making their mark on the Bering Sea. However, as the storm worsens, they too find themselves struggling to stay afloat and wondering if the risks they are taking are worth the potential rewards.
As the storm rages on, the mining crews face near impossible challenges as they work to keep their boats afloat and their equipment working. With time running out, they must push themselves to the limit in order to find the gold that could make or break their season.
Through it all, the crews of Bering Sea Gold face the ultimate test of strength, endurance, and determination as they battle against the unforgiving Bering Sea and the storm surge that threatens to claim them all.
