Benidorm season 6 episode 1, titled "Episode 1", picks up where the previous season left off, with the guests at the Solana resort still enjoying the sun, sea and sangria.
The episode opens with manager Joyce Temple-Savage (Sherrie Hewson) announcing changes at the resort, including a new entertainment team led by her nephew, Sammy Valentino (Shane Richie Jr.). The move comes after the departure of the previous entertainers, including Kenneth (Tony Maudsley) who is now working at a local hair salon.
Meanwhile, waitress Jacqueline (Janine Duvitski) is hoping for a promotion, while her friend and colleague Mateo (Jake Canuso) is struggling with a personal issue. Elsewhere, barman Joey (Nathan Bryon) is on the lookout for love, and newlyweds Pauline (Selina Griffiths) and Geoffrey (Johnny Vegas) are adjusting to married life.
As the guests begin to arrive, including a group of swingers and a mother-and-son duo, tensions rise between some of the characters. Joyce also has to deal with the return of shady businessman Monty (John Challis), who has his eye on the Solana and plans to buy it from her.
The episode is packed with the usual humour, hijinks and drama that fans of the show have come to love. The new characters add fresh energy to the mix, while the established cast members continue to shine in their roles.
