The episode opens with the Solana resort team busy preparing for a prestigious talent show featuring various acts including comedians, musicians, and dancers from different parts of the world. Joyce Temple-Savage is thrilled to welcome Sam, a handsome magician from Miami, who she believes would make a great addition to the show. Meanwhile, Mateo is busy dealing with the hotel's laundry, but is caught off guard when he discovers something strange about one of the guests.

Joyce, who is also the show's compere, is under immense pressure to ensure the show is a success as the reputation of the hotel is at stake. She assigns a team consisting of Mateo, Lesley, and Mel to help run the backstage. Meanwhile, Madge is feeling lonely as the other guests are preoccupied with the show. She wanders down to the bar to get some company. Later, Madge is thrilled to learn that Jacqueline has planned a surprise trip for her to go and visit Mount Rushmore.

Backstage, Mel has her sights set on the gorgeous Sam. She is disappointed when she learns that he is gay but dreams up a plan to make him notice her. She convinces Mateo to help her stage an elaborate fake robbery that would make Sam look like a hero. However, things do not go as planned, and the plan almost backfires.

Meanwhile, Joyce offers the resident entertainers, the Garvey's, a chance to perform in the talent show, but is disappointed with their uninspired and mediocre rendition of "Islands in the Stream." She advises the couple to work on their act, giving them some tips on how to spice things up.

As the night of the talent show arrives, the Solana resort is bustling with excitement. The show kicks off with a hilarious comedy act followed by a stunning performance by a flamenco dancer. The Garvey's, who have taken Joyce's advice, wow the crowd with their own interpretation of "Grease Lightning."
