In the Season 2 premiere of Benidorm, we are introduced to a new cast of characters who are just as eccentric and entertaining as the previous season's cast. The episode opens with a glimpse of the Solana resort and the stunning Spanish coastline, setting the stage for the return to the world of Madge, Mick, and the rest of the Benidorm crew.
As the guests arrive at the Solana, we meet new faces such as Mel, a single mother who has come to Benidorm with her two kids in hopes of finding love, and Donald and Jacqueline, a couple celebrating their anniversary. Solana regulars Madge and Mick are back, along with the rest of their group, including the lovable swingers, Jacqueline and Donald.
The main plot of Episode 1 revolves around the arrival of a surprise guest - Madge's long-lost son, Michael. Michael shows up unannounced and Madge is thrilled to see him, but there's one problem: Michael is gay, and Madge is not exactly the most accepting of mothers. She struggles to come to terms with Michael's sexuality, but throughout the episode we see Madge slowly starting to accept him for who he is.
Meanwhile, rival hotel manager Janey (Crissy Rock) is trying to lure guests away from the Solana with promises of a better experience, causing Solana manager Joyce Temple-Savage to take drastic measures to keep her guests happy. Joyce goes to great lengths to ensure things run smoothly at the resort, including hiring a new barman, Mateo (Jake Canuso), who is set to become a fan favorite throughout the series.
Throughout the episode, we are treated to the show's trademark blend of humor and heart, as we see the characters navigate their way through love, family, and the challenges of working in the hospitality industry. The quirky personalities of the guests and staff at the Solana never fail to entertain, and Episode 1 sets the stage for what is sure to be another hilarious and heartwarming season of Benidorm.
