When they arrive at the treasure island, they find a chest full of gold and gems, but they also discover that they have been tricked by Nanny Plum, who had hidden the chest there as a prank. Nevertheless, Barnaby is thrilled to have experienced a pirate adventure, and Ben and Holly are happy to have made him happy.
