Being Ian is a Canadian animated television show that revolves around the life of a pre-teen boy named Ian Kelley and his quirky family. In season 2 episode 21, titled "Snow Fun," Ian and his family prepare for a day of outdoor winter fun.
The episode begins with Ian and his younger sister, Ty, waking up early to enjoy the snow-filled backyard. They eagerly don their winter coats, hats, and mittens before heading outside to make a snowman. However, their plans are quickly derailed when their father, Ken, asks them to help clear the driveway of snow.
Ken hands Ian and Ty shovels, and they begin to work on the task at hand. Ian, who is never one to pass up an opportunity to have fun, suggests they turn the snow shoveling into a game. He challenges Ty to see who can clear the most snow in a certain amount of time. Ty accepts, and they begin to race back and forth, shoveling as much snow as they can.
Meanwhile, their mother, Cheryl, is inside the house baking cookies in preparation for their family's winter picnic. She calls out to Ken and reminds him of their plans to go ice skating later in the day. Ken, who is preoccupied with shoveling snow, agrees but is clearly flustered.
After finishing the driveway, Ian and Ty join their parents inside for lunch. Cheryl shows them the freshly baked cookies, and Ian quickly sneaks one, remarking that they are "the best cookies ever." Ken, on the other hand, is still rattled from the morning's events and doesn't seem to be in the mood for winter fun.
Despite Ken's skepticism, the family sets out for their winter picnic. They bring hot cocoa, sandwiches, and of course, Cheryl's cookies. As they settle in, they notice that the ice on the nearby pond is perfect for skating. Ian and Ty eagerly lace up their skates while Ken reluctantly joins in.
As the family glides across the ice, they begin to enjoy themselves. Even Ken, who was hesitant at first, starts to loosen up and have fun. They create a game of skating tag, with Ian and Ty being "it" and trying to tag Ken and Cheryl as they skate around.
The fun is suddenly interrupted when a group of older kids arrive at the pond and begin to monopolize the ice. They loudly blast music and skate recklessly, nearly knocking Ian and Ty over. Ken becomes frustrated and tells his family that they should leave, but Cheryl suggests they try talking to the older kids first.
Ian, Ty, and Cheryl approach the older kids, who are surprised to see an adult talking to them. Cheryl calmly explains that they were here first and asks if they could share the ice. The older kids reluctantly agree, and the families begin to skate together.
As they skate, the families begin to bond and have a good time together. They compare skating tricks and even get into a snowball fight. The older kids admit that they were being jerks earlier and apologize.
As the sun begins to set, the families gather their things and say goodbye. Ken tells his family how much he enjoyed the day and thanks Cheryl for convincing him to give winter fun a chance. The episode ends with the family heading home, happy and tired from a day full of snow fun.
