Ep 17. Picture Imperfect

Becker is a hit sitcom that centers around the life of Dr. John Becker, a cynical, opinionated, and often grumpy New York City physician who operates a small practice in the Bronx. In season 4 episode 17, titled "Picture Imperfect," we find Becker struggling to find the perfect picture to put on the wall of his office.

At the beginning of the episode, Becker is seen analyzing and scrutinizing the artwork hanging on his office walls, looking for ways to improve them. He believes that the artwork is unappealing and is in need of a major upgrade. In an attempt to find a new piece of art for his office, Becker asks Reggie to look for something suitable. She comes back with a few options, but none of them are to Becker's satisfaction.

Later, a hardware store opens across the street from Becker's practice, and with it comes a new tenant, a young graffiti artist named Victor. After an initial confrontation with Becker over his graffiti, the two eventually strike up a friendship when they both discover that they share a love for jazz music.

During their conversations, Victor shows Becker some of his own artwork, which consists of graffiti and street art. Becker is impressed with Victor's talent and, for a brief moment, thinks about hanging one of his pieces in his office. However, he soon dismisses the idea, believing it to be inappropriate.

Meanwhile, Linda comes into the practice one morning, sporting a new haircut and immediately catches the attention of all the men in the waiting room. Linda, who regularly makes attempts at being fashionable, is pleased with the attention and basks in it. However, her bubble is soon burst when she discovers that her new haircut was done by a stylist who is not very good and has left her with a haircut that she hates.

To make matters worse, Linda has to attend a wedding that evening, and with her horrible new haircut, she worries that she will look ridiculous. In a desperate attempt to fix her hair, Linda takes matters into her own hands and attempts to cut it herself. This results in an even bigger mess, and she is forced to wear a ridiculous hat to the wedding.

Back at the practice, Becker is still struggling to find the perfect piece of artwork to hang on his office wall. Reggie steps in and suggests that they do something a bit different, and creates a portrait of Becker herself. Becker is impressed with the portrait and realizes that he doesn't need to hang anything up; he can simply display the portrait instead.

In the end, Linda is forced to face the wedding guests with her ridiculous hat, and surprisingly, she is met with compliments and admiration. Even though her hair is far from perfect, she is happy and confident in her own skin. Meanwhile, Becker has finally found a piece of artwork to display in his office, and it is a perfect reflection of the people and the city that he loves so much.
