Ep 4. What Indifference a Day Makes

Becker season 3 episode 4, titled "What Indifference a Day Makes," follows the titular character, Dr. John Becker, as he faces several challenges throughout the day. Chris tells Becker that she is getting married and asks him if he has any advice. Becker brushes off the question and leaves the diner, frustrated with the events of the morning.

Throughout the day, Becker encounters several other patients, each with their own unique medical problems. He also deals with the aftermath of the burglary at his apartment, including the police investigation and his landlord's lack of urgency to fix his broken front door.

Amidst all of this chaos, Becker finds himself struggling with his own apathy and indifference towards his patients. He begins to question whether he is making a real difference in their lives or if he is just going through the motions. However, a chance encounter with a former patient who credits him with saving her life helps him regain a sense of purpose and passion for his work.

As the day comes to a close, Becker returns to his apartment to find that his front door has been fixed, but he is still left with an uneasy feeling about his place in the world. The episode ends with Becker sitting on his couch, deep in thought, contemplating his role as a doctor and the impact he has on the lives of those around him.
