Ep 1. Pilot

Dr. John Becker, a disgruntled and irritable doctor, own and operates a small practice in The Bronx. In the pilot episode, we are introduced to John's daily routine, which involves going to his practice, seeing his patients, and complaining about everything around him. John's viewpoint on life is very negative, and he makes that known to anyone and everyone around him. John's assistant, Margaret, is the only person who can tolerate John's constant grumbling, and they are often at odds with each other. John seems to have a particular dislike for his patients, and he doesn't seem to care about their well-being. We see glimpses of John's backstory, we understand that he's a brilliant doctor, but he's lost the passion for medicine. In one of the scenes, John goes to see his personal doctor, who he himself is skeptical about and thinks that he's only in it for the money. However, his doctor gives him a reality check and a reminder of why he became a doctor in the first place. The pilot episode sets the tone for the rest of the series, showing that John's stubbornness and bitterness have set him apart from society and ultimately made him a lone wolf. John may have a tough exterior, but deep down, he does care about his patients and wants to make a difference in the world.
