Beat Bobby Flay season 32 episode 4, titled "Room for Dessert," features two dessert chefs going head-to-head to earn the chance to take on Bobby Flay himself. First up is pastry chef Laurie Jon Moran, who worked at renowned restaurants in New York City before opening her own shop in Asheville, North Carolina. Her opponent is self-taught baker Miranda Prince, who quit her job in commercial real estate to follow her passion for sweets.
The competition kicks off with a signature dessert challenge, where the two chefs must create their take on a classic cake. Laurie Jon opts for a triple-layered chocolate cake with homemade raspberry jam and a silky chocolate ganache. Miranda goes for a citrusy twist, whipping up a lemon and olive oil cake with a tangy lemon curd filling and a fluffy whipped cream frosting. Both desserts look and smell delicious, but only one can win.
In the second round, the chefs must create a dessert using a secret ingredient revealed by Bobby himself. This time, the ingredient is miso paste, an umami-packed ingredient that's usually used in savory dishes. Laurie Jon decides to make miso caramel ice cream, which she'll top with a crunchy miso cookie crumble. Miranda decides to make a miso-infused chocolate cake with a miso buttercream frosting. The judges are impressed by both dishes, but again, only one can move on to face Bobby Flay.
For the final round, Laurie Jon and Miranda must each create their own version of Bobby's favorite dessert: sticky toffee pudding. The British classic is a hearty, moist cake drenched in a warm toffee sauce, and it's one of Bobby's signature dishes. Laurie Jon keeps it traditional, making a rich date and fig pudding with a sticky toffee sauce and a dollop of whipped cream. Miranda puts her own spin on the dessert, adding coconut milk to the pudding batter and making a toffee sauce with rum and toasted coconut flakes.
The judges have a tough time deciding which dessert is better, but one chef ultimately emerges victorious and moves on to the final round, where they'll have the chance to beat Bobby Flay and win $10,000. However, with Bobby's culinary prowess and years of experience, beating him won't be easy. Who will come out on top? Tune in to "Room for Dessert" to find out!
