In the second part of the season 5 episode of Baywatch named "Living on the Fault Line", the story picks up where it was left off in the first part. The earthquake has caused damage to the beach and several people are injured or trapped. Mitch Buchanan (played by David Hasselhoff) and his team rush to rescue the victims, but things soon take a dangerous turn.
Meanwhile, DEA agent Laura Sheridan (played by Nancy Valen) is investigating a drug trafficking ring on the beach. She suspects that lifeguard Neely Capshaw (played by Gena Lee Nolin) could be involved and is determined to catch her. Neely, on the other hand, is struggling to keep her secret life hidden from her friends and colleagues.
As the rescue and recovery efforts continue, Mitch and his team come across a group of people who are stranded on a pier that is about to collapse. With time running out, they must find a way to bring the survivors to safety before it's too late.
At the same time, Laura's investigation leads her to an unexpected discovery that puts her life in danger. She must make a split-second decision in order to save herself and bring the drug traffickers to justice.
Throughout the episode, the characters deal with personal issues as well. Mitch is torn between his loyalty to his team and his concern for his son, Hobie, who is caught up in the chaos of the earthquake. Neely struggles to keep her addiction under control while dealing with the pressure of Laura's investigation. And Summer Quinn (played by Nicole Eggert) is forced to confront her feelings for a man she had previously written off as a player.
As is typical of Baywatch episodes, there are plenty of action-packed moments, heartwarming scenes, and humorous interactions between the characters. The episode ends on a cliffhanger that leaves viewers eagerly anticipating the next installment of the season.
