Season 3 begins with a two-part episode titled "River of No Return," which has Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff) and his team of lifeguards dealing with their most dangerous rescue mission yet. In "River of No Return, Part 1," the episode starts with Mitch and his fiancée, Allison (Shawnee Smith), going on a rafting trip through the Grand Canyon. While on their trip, they come across a group of fishermen who have lost their guide and are stuck on the river with no way out.
Mitch and Allison try to help the fishermen, but Allison ends up getting injured. Mitch is forced to leave her behind to find help while he continues down the river to save the fishermen. Meanwhile, back at Baywatch, the lifeguards are busy training for a new summer season when they receive a distress call from Mitch.
The team springs into action, and three of the lifeguards (C.J. Parker, Matt Brody, and Summer Quinn) head to the Grand Canyon to assist Mitch. When they arrive, they find that the river has turned into a deadly force, and Mitch and the fishermen are in grave danger.
As the lifeguards work to rescue the victims, they face one obstacle after another. From rapids and waterfalls to dangerous wildlife and harsh weather, each perilous challenge pushes them to their limits. Along the way, they learn to rely on each other and their training to make it through the difficult rescue mission.
