Ep 3. Mudslide

In Batman: The Animated Series season 2 episode 3, titled "Mudslide," Batman faces off against one of his more unusual foes - Matt Hagen, an actor who has transformed himself into the malleable villain known as Clayface.

The episode begins with Hagen submerged in a vat of strange, green fluid. When he emerges, he finds that he can manipulate his body in ways he never thought possible. At first, this newfound ability seems like a blessing - he can change his appearance at will, and use his flexible body to his advantage.

However, Hagen soon learns that his transformation is not without its downsides. The fluid that gave him his powers is slowly breaking down his body, and he is becoming more and more unstable with each passing moment.

Meanwhile, Batman is investigating a series of thefts that have occurred around the city. Each crime has been carried out by someone who can seemingly slip through walls and move seamlessly from location to location - leading the Dark Knight to suspect that the perpetrator may be a shapeshifter.

As Batman works to uncover the identity of the thief, he discovers that Clayface has resurfaced in Gotham City - and that he has now become a dangerous, unstoppable force. With his new powers of malleability, Clayface is able to slip through the cracks in walls and floors, and move easily through any obstacle that Batman puts in his way.

Despite Batman's best efforts, Clayface manages to evade him time and time again - slipping through the shadows like a sentient mass of mud. It becomes increasingly clear that Batman will need to think outside the box if he hopes to defeat Clayface once and for all.

In the end, Batman manages to come up with a plan to stop Clayface in his tracks. Using the villain's own powers against him, Batman lures him into a trap and manages to neutralize his abilities.

But even with Clayface defeated, Batman is left with a sense of unease. He knows that there are other villains out there who pose just as much of a threat - and that he will need to continue to put himself in harm's way if he hopes to keep Gotham City safe.
