In Batman Beyond season 2 episode 4, titled "Lost Soul," Terry McGinnis (the new Batman) faces a new villain named Inque. Inque is a shapeshifter that can turn her body into liquid and transform into any form she desires. She is on the run after a recent prison break and is looking for a way to change her appearance and start a new life.
Meanwhile, Dana is struggling with her academics and spiraling into a depression. She does not want to talk to Terry or her friends about her struggles and chooses to isolate herself. Terry becomes concerned about her and tries to reach out, but Dana continues to push him away.
As Batman tries to track down Inque, he realizes that he has a connection to her that could help Riddler. Inque was once a scientist named Dr. Amanda Waller, who was exposed to a mutagenic compound while working for the government. The same compound gave Riddler his superhuman intelligence and allowed him to escape from Arkham Asylum.
Batman enlists the help of Max, his friend and computer expert, to find out where Inque could be hiding. They discover that Inque is hiding out in an abandoned chemical plant and decide to go after her. Dana tags along with Terry, ultimately putting herself in harm's way.
Inque proves to be a formidable opponent, using her shapeshifting abilities to avoid Batman's attacks. She eventually manages to escape, but not before revealing that she is dying and needs help finding a cure.
Batman decides to team up with Dr. Waller's ex-partner to create an antidote to save Inque's life. Riddler also catches wind of the antidote and begins to pursue it for his own personal gain.
The episode ends with a final showdown between Batman, Inque, and Riddler, where all three characters' fates are left in the balance.
