Norma is trying to turn the Bates Motel into a successful business, but everything is going against her. With her son Norman's emotional instability, the Sheriff who keeps insisting that they need to reduce crime in the area, and the fact that she is an outsider in their small community, it seems like nothing is working out for her.
In episode 3, entitled "What's Wrong With Norman," we get a closer look at Norman Bates as a person.
