Bat Masterson was a historical figure, a gentleman gambler and lawman in the Wild West era who became famous for his exploits in Dodge City, Kansas. His story has been fictionalized for television, including the show Bat Masterson which ran from 1958-1961. In season 3 episode 2, titled "Law of the Land," Bat Masterson faces a difficult decision when the town sheriff dies suddenly and he is asked to step in and take his place.

In the end, he is able to bring the outlaws to justice, quell the anger of the cattlemen, and even convince Ringo to leave town before he causes any more trouble.
