He is joined in his adventures by his best friend, Snuffy Smith, who is portrayed as a simple-minded but lovable hillbilly. Snuffy is quick-witted and resourceful, but often gets into trouble due to his impulsive nature.

The duo's friends and neighbors in Hootin' Holler include the likes of Tater, a lazy but good-natured fellow who spends most of his time fishing; Loweezy, Snuffy's wife, who is always looking for ways to improve their living conditions; and Jughaid, Snuffy's son, who is mischievous and always getting into trouble.

The animation is bright and colorful, with a retro feel that captures the spirit of the original comic strip.

The show is perfect for families with young children, but also offers entertainment for adults who appreciate classic animation and the joys of simpler times. The episodes are relatively short, running at around 20 minutes each, making it easy to watch a few episodes in one sitting.
