In season 6, episode 2 of Bar Rescue, titled "Take Me Out of the Bar Game," Jon Taffer visits a sports bar in Las Vegas called O'Face's that is struggling to attract customers despite its prime location on the strip. The bar's owner, Dave, is a former professional baseball player who is relying on his sports connections to bring in business, but his lack of experience in managing a bar is evident in the way he has set up the establishment.
When Jon arrives, he takes a walk around the bar to observe the setup and get a sense of the problems. He notices that the bar's layout is confusing, with two separate bars that are not connected and furniture that is blocking the path to the restrooms. He also sees that the bar has a lackluster atmosphere, with no clear theme or brand identity and sports memorabilia that is outdated and unappealing.
Jon sits down with Dave to discuss the issues and gets a sense of his background and aspirations. Dave reveals that he is passionate about sports and wants to create a place where fans can come to watch games and enjoy good food and drinks. Jon tells him that he needs to focus on creating a unique experience that will make O'Face's stand out from the other bars on the strip. He suggests that Dave consider rebranding the bar as a modern sports bar that appeals to a younger crowd and revamping the menu to include more innovative dishes.
To help Dave implement these changes, Jon brings in his team of experts, which includes a chef, a mixologist, and a designer. The chef takes a look at the menu and spots several dishes that are not selling well and are not up to par in terms of quality. He suggests that Dave focus on creating a smaller, more focused menu that highlights the bar's specialties, such as their burgers and wings, and adds some new dishes that are on-trend and feature fresh, high-quality ingredients.
The mixologist takes a look at the bar's drink menu and sees that it lacks creativity and doesn't have any signature cocktails. He suggests that Dave invest in better quality liquor and mixers and enlist his staff to come up with some new drink ideas that will showcase the bar's personality.
The designer takes a walk around the bar and sees that it needs some major changes to create a more upscale, modern atmosphere. He recommends that Dave remove the outdated sports memorabilia and replace it with sleek, contemporary decor that appeals to a younger crowd. He also advises Dave to open up the space by removing some of the unnecessary furniture and creating better flow between the two bars.
Throughout the episode, Jon pushes Dave to step outside of his comfort zone and make some bold changes to the bar's brand and identity. He challenges him to take a chance on a new menu, to re-think the way the bar is set up, and to invest in new decor and equipment.
In the end, it's up to Dave to take the lessons he's learned from Jon and his team of experts and apply them to his business. He must make tough decisions about what changes to make and how to implement them. But if he's willing to take the risks, he might just be able to turn O'Face's into a successful, thriving bar that attracts customers from all over the strip.
