In Banshee season 4 episode 1, titled "Something Out of the Bible," the show picks up where it left off in the explosive season 3 finale. For those who need a reminder, Lucas Hood (played by Antony Starr) was arrested and sent to prison after getting caught in FBI Agent Veronica Dawson's (played by Eliza Dushku) sting operation. Meanwhile, Carrie Hopewell (played by Ivana Milicevic) and her estranged husband Gordon (played by Rus Blackwell) were in a car accident, which left Gordon fighting for his life.
The episode begins with Hood being transferred to a new prison, where he quickly makes enemies with some of the other inmates. As he tries to keep his head down and stay out of trouble, he receives a visit from an unexpected ally - Proctor (played by Ulrich Thomsen). Proctor, who is still reeling from the events of the season 3 finale, offers Hood a deal - he'll help get him out of prison if he agrees to leave Banshee for good.
Meanwhile, Carrie is struggling to come to terms with Gordon's condition. She spends her days sitting by his bedside, praying for him to wake up. Her emotions are further complicated by the presence of Deva (played by Ryann Shane), her daughter with Hood, who is struggling with her own guilt over the accident.
As Hood weighs Proctor's offer, he's also grappling with the realization that he may be in prison for longer than he originally thought. The FBI have uncovered evidence that suggests he may have been involved in a string of robberies prior to coming to Banshee, which could add years onto his sentence.
Things come to a head when Hood gets into a fight with a group of inmates, prompting the guards to put him in solitary confinement. It's during this time that he receives a visit from someone unexpected - his father. The two men haven't seen each other in over 15 years, and their reunion is strained to say the least. Hood's father is a religious man, and he sees his son's imprisonment as part of God's plan. It's a conversation that leaves Hood feeling conflicted and unsure of what to do next.
Meanwhile, back in Banshee, Job (played by Hoon Lee) and Sugar (played by Frankie Faison) are trying to keep the peace in Hood's absence. They know that sooner or later, someone is going to come looking for revenge, and they need to be prepared.
Overall, "Something Out of the Bible" is a tense and emotional episode that sets the stage for the final season of Banshee. As always, the show is full of action and violence, but it's also incredibly character-driven. The relationships between the various characters are what make the show so compelling, and this episode is no exception. It's a must-watch for fans of the series, and a great starting point for those who haven't seen it before.
