Banacek is a detective show that follows the investigations of Thomas Banacek, a Polish-American investigator who is known for solving impossible thefts and crimes. In the second season's seventh episode, titled "Fly Me -- If you Can Find Me," Banacek takes on the case of a stolen prototype airplane that mysteriously disappeared mid-flight.
The episode begins with the unveiling of a revolutionary plane, the TC experimental airplane that is built to withstand an incredible amount of turbulence. The plane is set to to be the next generation of air travel, and its makers, the Breckenridge Aircraft Corporation, are understandably very proud of their creation.
However, during the plane's test flight, a sudden thunderstorm hits, and the pilot loses control of the plane. In the resulting confusion, the prototype plane disappears completely, and nobody knows what happened to it. Although the pilot manages to eject safely, the plane is nowhere to be found.
The Breckenridge Corporation hires Banacek to investigate the disappearance, and he quickly starts to piece together what happened. He interviews the pilot and other employees to try to get a sense of the plane's flight path, but all they can tell him is that the plane vanished out of nowhere and was never recovered.
Banacek then turns his attention to the competition; a rival aircraft manufacturers, who the Breckenridge Corporation had been in a patent dispute with before the plane's disappearance. Banacek thinks that they might have stolen the plane to get a closer look at its revolutionary design.
Banacek goes to great lengths to get the information that he needs. He rents an airplane and pilots it to the location where the plane was last seen, looking for any sign of it on the ground. He also sends his assistant, Jay Drury, to go undercover at the rival company in hopes of finding evidence of their theft. After some intensive searching, Banacek discovers that the rival company did attempt to steal the plane but failed miserably, ultimately resulting in the death of an employee who was involved in the heist.
However, Banacek isn't satisfied with just knowing that it wasn't the rival company who stole the plane. He continues his search and eventually comes across a pilot who had been hired by a wealthy businessman named Bradford Winters to act as a decoy so that Winters could steal the plane himself. Banacek devises a plan to catch Winters in the act and involves the police, but their plans don't quite go according to plan.
As the episode progresses, Banacek faces some unexpected obstacles. His investigation meets enigmatic characters, and he and his assistant Jay find themselves in life-threatening situations. Will Banacek be able to solve the case and recover the plane before it's too late?
In conclusion, "Fly Me -- If you Can Find Me" is a thrilling and exciting episode of Banacek. It has everything that you would expect from a detective show - action, suspense, and a whole lot of intrigue. It is a fantastic investigation story, and viewers will no doubt be kept guessing until the very end.
