In Baki The Grappler season 1 episode 16, titled "Road to the Sacred Land," Baki is honing his skills with some intense training in the mountains alongside his mentor, Kureha. While training, Kureha shares a story about a legendary fighter, Hanayama Kaoru, who has now become infamous in the world of martial arts.

The focus shifts to Hanayama, who is currently in prison but is determined to escape to get back to the martial arts world. His opportunity comes when he meets a fellow prisoner who claims to know the location of the "Sacred Land," a legendary place where the strongest fighters in the world are said to gather.

Meanwhile, Baki continues to train and improve his skills, pushing himself to new limits. He's determined to become stronger and face tougher opponents, but isn't sure where to go next. It's around this time that he receives an invitation from a mysterious stranger to come to Tokyo and fight in an underground tournament.

As Baki makes his way to Tokyo, we see Hanayama and his new partner in crime, Sikorsky, who plan to use the opportunity to escape prison during the tournament. However, things don't go according to plan, and a series of unexpected events unravel, leading to a showdown between the two prisoners and Baki.

"Road to the Sacred Land" takes us on a journey through the world of martial arts and explores the motivations of its characters. We see the drive and ambition that fuels Baki, the desperation of Hanayama as he tries to regain his status, and the cunning and ruthlessness of Sikorsky as he seeks to exploit others. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, setting up an exciting and action-packed continuation of the story in the next episode.
