In season 1, episode 3 of Bad Ink, titled "Who Needs a Tattervention?," Las Vegas tattoo artist Dirk Vermin and his sidekick Ruckus are back to help people with their bad tattoos. This episode features two clients who have made poor tattoo decisions, and Dirk and Ruckus are determined to turn these mistakes into something beautiful.
First up is Stephanie, a young woman who made the mistake of getting a tattoo on her back that she now regrets. The tattoo was originally meant to represent her bond with her boyfriend, but the relationship ended badly and Stephanie is left with a tattoo that no longer holds any meaning for her. Dirk and Ruckus meet with Stephanie and are shocked by the size and detail of the tattoo. They both agree that it needs to be covered up, but the challenge will be finding a design that suits Stephanie's personality.
Next, the guys meet Graham, a man who got a tattoo on his chest while on vacation in Hawaii. The tattoo is meant to represent the islands, but it's a bit too cheesy for Graham's liking. Dirk and Ruckus are impressed with the quality of the tattoo, but they agree that the design needs to be updated and improved.
Throughout the episode, Dirk and Ruckus work tirelessly to create new designs for Stephanie and Graham. They first sketch out their ideas and then show the clients, who provide feedback and make suggestions. Dirk and Ruckus are able to incorporate these ideas into their designs, and the end results are stunning.
Stephanie's new tattoo is a beautiful and intricate design that covers up her old tattoo and represents her new outlook on life. Graham's tattoo is also updated with a new design that better represents his love for Hawaii, and the guys even manage to work in a tribute to Graham's father.
As always, Bad Ink delivers a mix of humor and heart as Dirk and Ruckus help people reclaim their bodies and their self-confidence. Fans of the show will love this episode and newcomers will be hooked by the end.
