In the eleventh episode of Bad Ink's first season, titled "Girls Gone Tattoo Wild," tattoo experts Dirk Vermin and Ruckus are faced with some wild and crazy ink jobs given to women looking to cover up their mistakes.
The episode begins with a woman named Dana, who has a large and embarrassing tattoo of a nun smoking a cigarette on her arm. She got the tattoo when she was young and did not anticipate the social backlash it would bring. Dirk and Ruckus agree that the tattoo is poorly done and work with Dana to design a cover-up tattoo that is much more appropriate for her age. They come up with a beautiful design that will help hide the old tattoo and create a sleeker look for her arm.
Next, the Bad Ink team gets called in to help a girl named Bailey who is embarrassed by a tattoo she got in college. The tattoo is a large tribal pattern that she got impulsively, and later regretted. She now struggles to wear clothing that will hide the tattoo and is constantly mocked by her family. Dirk and Ruckus come in with a great design that works with her personality and ends up being a much-needed improvement.
The third client of the episode is a woman named Tara who has a back tattoo that, while once meaningful, has now become an eyesore. The tattoo is so bad that Tara is embarrassed to go swimming with her kids and is desperate to get it covered up. Dirk and Ruckus go to work and come up with a new design that incorporates her love for her kids and the sun. The end result is beautiful, and Tara is overjoyed with the final product.
Lastly, a woman named Lindsay comes in with a colorful tattoo on her hip that has been a source of contention with her mother. Dirk and Ruckus help Lindsay design a new tattoo that represents her new start, as she has recently left a bad relationship. The tattoo is a phoenix rising from the ashes, which is symbolic of her rebirth. The end result is unique and meaningful to Lindsay.
Overall, "Girls Gone Tattoo Wild" highlights the Bad Ink team's ability to take previous ink mistakes and correct them with beautiful new designs that highlight the clients' personal stories. Despite some initial hesitation from the clients, Dirk and Ruckus are able to prove their talent and provide transformative ink jobs that the clients can be proud of.
