Johnny White is back with his third and final season of Bad Education, and the fourth episode of the season is titled "Fundraising".
The episode revolves around Alfie Wickers, the young history teacher at Abbey Grove School for Boys in Watford, and his quest to save the school's reputation from being tarnished by a group of new politicians who are trying to shut down the school. Alfie realizes that the only way to save the school is by organizing a charity event to raise money for the school's renovations.
As usual, Alfie has his hands full with his misfit class. His friend Joe is putting up flyers for his own charity event, which he has dubbed as "Joe's Fun Run". Alfie, on the other hand, is trying to persuade his students to participate in his charity function and raise money. Alfie's students, however, are more interested in dealing with their own problems.
Joe's flyers have gained a lot of interest among the students and what was intended to be a small charity event has turned into a huge affair. As Alfie tries to get his students on board for his fundraiser, Joe's event becomes the centre of attention.
Meanwhile, Mr Schwimer, the headmaster of Abbey Grove, is not amused by Alfie's charity event. There have been some complaints from the parents about the school's poor facilities, and the headmaster thinks that Alfie's charity event is a way to put things right. He warns Alfie that if his fundraiser fails, then it will be curtains for the school.
The episode takes some surprising turns as Alfie's charity event ends up competing with Joe's Fun Run. The competition between the two events becomes so intense that it even leads to a street fight between the supporters.
We also get to see a lot of personal drama in this episode. Miss Gulliver, the English teacher, is still haunted by her past relationship with Alfie. As much as she tries to forget it, she can't seem to shake it off. Her feelings for Alfie resurface when he invites her to help him with the fundraiser.
The episode also highlights the growing relationship between Rosie Gulliver and Martin Wickers, Alfie's father. Martin, played by the hilarious Jack Whitehall, is still as wacky as ever and provides some of the most memorable moments of the episode.
The episode's climax is intense, as both the charity events come to a head. Joe's fun run goes off without a hitch, while Alfie's fundraiser faces some serious problems. The two events culminate in a wild and chaotic finish that will leave you in stitches.
Overall, the episode is a delightful mix of drama and humour. It showcases the unique character traits of each of the students and teachers, and provides some memorable moments. The episode manages to capture the essence of the show by mixing slapstick humour with some genuine heartwarming moments.
"Fundraising" is a rollercoaster of emotions that will have you laughing, crying and rooting for everyone in their own way. It is a perfect example of what makes Bad Education such a cult classic.
