Ep 1. And We're Back
- November 7, 2016
And We're Back is the first episode of season 2 of the hit teen drama series Backstage. The episode picks up from where the first season left off - with the Keaton School of the Arts students back for another year of creative exploration and self-discovery.
As the title suggests, the episode begins with the students returning to school after their summer break. The excitement is palpable as they catch up with old friends and meet new ones. But as they settle back into their routines, they realize that a lot has changed over the summer - relationships have ended, new ones have blossomed, and some of them have even started pursuing new artistic interests.
This episode is all about the students navigating these changes and adapting to their new circumstances. There's a sense of uncertainty and unease that permeates through the halls of Keaton, as the students grapple with the unpredictable nature of adolescence and the ever-changing landscape of high school.
One of the main plotlines that takes center stage in And We're Back revolves around Vanessa (played by Devyn Nekoda) and Carly (played by Kyal Legend). The two friends have been inseparable since they first met at Keaton, but as the new school year starts, they realize that they have grown apart. Vanessa is now more focused on her music than anything else, while Carly has taken a keen interest in dance.
Their friendship is put to the test when they both audition for the lead role in the school play - a modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet. Vanessa is determined to snag the part, but Carly is equally passionate about it. As they both work hard to perfect their auditions, they begin to realize that their friendship might not survive the competition.
Meanwhile, Jax (played by Matthew Isen) is dealing with his own set of problems. He spent the summer in Los Angeles pursuing his dream of becoming an actor, but things didn't go as planned. He faced a lot of rejection and disappointment, which has left him feeling discouraged and uncertain about his future.
As he returns to Keaton, he struggles with the expectation that he must be the same confident, talented performer that he was before he left. But as he confides in his friends and mentors, he begins to understand that failure and setbacks are a normal part of any creative journey. He learns to embrace his vulnerability and use it as fuel to fuel his passion.
Of course, there are plenty of other storylines that unravel throughout the episode. The aspiring fashion designer Bianca (played by Julia Tomasone) is dealing with a particularly challenging project, while the brooding guitarist Miles (played by Colin Petierre) is still struggling with writer's block.
Overall, And We're Back sets the stage for what promises to be another exciting and emotionally charged season of Backstage. It's a poignant reminder of the ups and downs of adolescence, and the importance of staying true to oneself even when the world feels like it's constantly changing around you.
