In season 1 episode 7 of Back at the Barnyard, entitled "Lights, Camera, Moo!/Animal Farmers," the animals of the barnyard are in for an adventure as Otis, the carefree cow, takes it upon himself to become a movie star.
In "Lights, Camera, Moo!," Otis enlists his barnyard pals to help create his very own action movie. They build a makeshift set and create props to make the film as realistic as possible. Otis even assigns each animal their own special role, such as a stunt double or boom operator. However, their plans hit a snag when they realize they have no idea how to make a movie.
Determined to make the best movie possible, Otis convinces a travelling salesman to sell him a high-tech camera for peanuts. With their new gadget in hand, they begin filming, but things quickly go awry. Their camera batteries soon die, and they are unable to record all the critical scenes. Otis and his friends then come up with a plan to create their own special effects, but it only leads to more chaos around the barnyard.
Meanwhile, in "Animal Farmers," the Barnyard animals get a shocking reveal that the Farmer they previously thought knew everything was, in reality, unable to distinguish them from one another. Feeling dejected by the Farmer's lack of awareness, the animals make a plan by training each other in animal impressions. Even Duke the dog, who previously found all animal performance to be "fake," gets in on the action and trains Pig for his turn at imitating other animals. Though the Farmer remains unaware, the animals are happy to have this new power over him.
As the episode continues, the animals begin exhibiting each other's characteristics, which leads to confusion and hilarious mishaps. Duke, for example, starts acting like a chicken, while Pig is suddenly barking like a dog. Despite unable to keep up with their acting ventures for too long, the animals continue to practice their performances, and eventually, it pays off when the Farmer mistakes one animal for another.
Overall, "Lights, Camera, Moo!/Animal Farmers" is an episode filled with fun and laughs as the animals of the barnyard try to navigate new challenges and roles. With Otis leading the way in "Lights, Camera, Moo!" and the Barnyard animals working together in "Animal Farmers," this episode is highly entertaining and sure to make viewers of all ages smile.
