Episode 9 opens with a tense meeting between Gereon Rath and the Soviet trade representative, Trochin, as they negotiate a deal for the sale of the Soviet Union's oil. Rath soon discovers that Trochin is also involved in a counterfeiting operation and is forced to confront the fact that he may have inadvertently helped the Soviets launder their money.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Ritter continues her undercover work at the Moka Efti nightclub and becomes embroiled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with her employer, the club's owner. As tensions rise, Charlotte must navigate her loyalties and allegiances to stay alive.

Back in the police department, Bruno Wolter and his Nazi sympathizer cohorts make a power move to take control of the precinct. Wolter drugs his superiors and attempts to manipulate the situation to his advantage, but Rath and his allies quickly catch on to his scheme.
