Babylon 5 season 4 episode 20, titled "Endgame," follows the crew of the titular space station as they prepare for a final, all-out attack against forces allied with their enemy, the Shadows. As the conflict heats up, several key players are forced to confront their own ethical boundaries in order to ensure the survival of their respective peoples.
One of the central characters in the episode is Captain John Sheridan (played by Bruce Boxleitner), the commander of Babylon 5 and a staunch opponent of the Shadows. Despite his commitment to the cause, however, he finds himself increasingly frustrated with the political maneuvering and moral compromises that have become necessary in order to keep the various factions aligned. As the episode progresses, he must confront some difficult choices about the true nature of his allies and the price of victory.
Another key figure in "Endgame" is Delenn (played by Mira Furlan), a member of the spiritual Minbari race who has been a key ally to Sheridan throughout the series. Delenn is faced with a crisis of faith when she learns that some of her own people may be willing to make deals with the Shadows in order to maintain their power. This dilemma forces her to re-examine her own commitment to her values and the role that she has played in the larger conflict.
Meanwhile, other characters on the station - including security officer Michael Garibaldi (played by Jerry Doyle) and former Ambassador Londo Mollari (played by Peter Jurasik) - are grappling with their own personal demons and connections to the larger conflict. Garibaldi, for instance, must decide whether to accept a dangerous mission in order to help his friends and allies on Babylon 5. Londo, on the other hand, finds himself questioning his own loyalty to his people as he explores the consequences of his actions as ambassador.
Throughout "Endgame," the tension and high-stakes action continue to build as the various players take their places for the final showdown. As the fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance, the characters are forced to confront their deepest fears and desires in order to see it through to the end.
Overall, "Endgame" is a thrilling and emotionally charged episode that brings many of the show's major storylines to a head. Filled with action and complex character development, it is a fitting installment in the ongoing saga of Babylon 5.
