In Ax Men season 3 episode 5 titled "Surviving the Swarm," the logging crews face numerous challenges as they try to meet their quota in the Pacific Northwest. The episode begins with Rygaard Logging facing a setback when one of their main machines malfunctions, forcing them to make some strategic adjustments. Meanwhile, at Conner Aviation, they receive a new helicopter that is supposed to improve their efficiency, but it turns out to have some unexpected issues when tested in the field.
In an attempt to avoid any further issues and increase productivity, the crew at Conner Aviation try out a new technique known as "gypsy logging." This involves setting up camp deep in the woods, close to the logging site, and using the helicopter to transport the logs directly from the site back to the camp. However, the team faces some serious challenges when they have to navigate through a dense forest and land the helicopter on a tiny clearing.
Elsewhere, Browning Logging faces a different kind of challenge when they come up against "swarm" of bees. They need to take down a tree that is infested with bees, but they have to find a way to do it without disturbing the bees and putting their crew in danger. The team calls in a beekeeper to help assess the situation and come up with a plan.
Over at Papac Alaska Logging, they are dealing with another kind of swarm - a swarm of mosquitoes. This time, they don't have the luxury of waiting it out, as they have only a limited window of time in which to complete their quota. They use a combination of bug spray, mosquito nets, and sheer determination to get the job done.
As the episode progresses, all the teams face their fair share of obstacles and setbacks, but they also demonstrate their grit and determination in overcoming them. Overall, "Surviving the Swarm" is an action-packed episode that showcases the challenges faced by logging crews in the Pacific Northwest and their ability to adapt and overcome in even the most challenging circumstances.
