Jenna Hamilton, a high school sophomore, has a crush on her popular neighbor Matty McKibben but she's too shy to tell him. After an accident at summer camp causes rumors to spread about her "losing her virginity," Jenna becomes the target of gossip and bullying at school. On top of that, her overbearing mother insists on throwing her a "re-birth" party to celebrate her "second chance" at life. Jenna's best friend, Tamara, encourages her to embrace the rumors and own her newfound popularity, but Jenna still longs for the attention of Matty. When Jenna receives a mysterious letter from a secret admirer named "A," she begins to question who could be behind it and what their true motivations are. As she navigates the ups and downs of high school, Jenna finds strength in her own identity and learns to embrace her awkwardness.
