Zuko is struggling with his inner demons and the knowledge that he has betrayed his own family in his quest to capture the Avatar. Meanwhile, Iroh tries to steer Zuko towards a different path and encourages him to seek redemption.
As the episode progresses, Aang and his friends are able to escape from Lake Laogai and continue their search for Appa. They also begin to unravel the secrets of the Dai Li and their hold on Ba Sing Se. Meanwhile, Prince Zuko makes a difficult decision about his allegiance and his future, while Iroh continues to guide and support him through his struggles.
