In Avatar: The Last Airbender season 1 episode 7, Winter Solstice: Part 1: The Spirit World, Aang and his friends continue their journey to the Northern Water Tribe. Along the way, they encounter a small village that is being terrorized by a spirit known as Hei Bai. Aang, being the Avatar and therefore the bridge between the physical world and the Spirit World, realizes he must enter the latter to find out what is causing Hei Bai's anger.
Upon entering the Spirit World, Aang is reunited with his past life, Avatar Roku, who informs him that the Spirit World is in chaos due to the actions of a Fire Nation general named Zhao. Zhao is searching for the Spirit Oasis, the source of all waterbending in the world, in order to capture the Moon Spirit and weaken the power of the Northern Water Tribe.
Meanwhile, back in the physical world, Sokka and Katara must protect the village from Hei Bai's wrath while Aang is in the Spirit World. They soon discover that Hei Bai is actually a peaceful forest spirit who has been angered by the construction of a nearby Fire Nation factory, which is causing harm to the environment and disrupting the balance of nature.
As Aang tries to convince Hei Bai to calm down and Sokka and Katara try to stop the Fire Nation from continuing their destructive actions, the Spirit World becomes more chaotic. The sky turns dark and spirits become aggressive, causing havoc in both worlds.
The episode ends on a cliffhanger as Aang realizes he must find a way to restore balance to both the physical world and the Spirit World before it's too late.
Overall, Winter Solstice: Part 1: The Spirit World is a captivating episode that explores the themes of balance and environmentalism in both the physical world and the Spirit World. It also sets up a larger conflict between the Fire Nation and the Water Tribes, as well as the importance of the Avatar in maintaining balance in the world.
